NDC reportedly urges NATO to prepare for multi-front confrontation with Russia
NATO needs to reassess its strategic frameworks and prepare for confrontation with Russia that extends beyond the “Battle of the Atlantic” or land operations in Europe, according to the latest review by the NATO Defence College (NDC), TASS reports.
The report’s author, NDC research fellow Andrew Monahan, emphasises that the development of comprehensive maritime power is a key feature of Moscow’s policy, allowing Russia to position itself as a leader in the context of geoeconomic competition.
“This shifts NATO’s focus beyond the renewed ‘Battle of the Atlantic’ or land operation scenarios in Northeastern Europe toward a multi-domain, multi-front Russian challenge with a global horizon,” the review states.
Alliance analysts also note that crisis scenarios often concentrate on escalation along a single strategic axis — from the Baltic to the Kara Sea.
