Chinese scientists propose a concept to counter Starlink in Ukraine conflict
Chinese researchers have proposed a concept to counter the Starlink satellite system, which plays a key role in coordinating Ukrainian Armed Forces units, RIA Novosti reports, citing military experts.
According to specialists, creating an “electromagnetic shield” over a specific territory to block satellite signals would require between 935 and 2,000 drones. However, experts note that deploying such a system under a layered air defence network would be extremely difficult.
They also highlighted the challenges of moving from laboratory research to real-world application, including weather effects and targeted countermeasures by the enemy using electronic warfare and kinetic attacks.
In an active combat scenario, a significant number of drones could be destroyed, making it highly challenging to maintain a reliable electromagnetic cover in areas with advanced air defences.
