Sweden boosts Ukraine’s defence with historic $1.2 billion military package
Sweden is set to provide Ukraine with its largest military aid package since 2022, worth 13.5 billion Swedish kronor (approximately $1.2 billion), according to Swedish Defence Minister, Paul Jonsson.
Jonsson confirmed that this would be the 18th aid package from Sweden to Ukraine, and the largest of its kind since the conflict began in February 2022, Caliber.Az reports via Swedish media.
"This is the largest assistance package Sweden has provided to Ukraine since February 2022," Jonsson stated, underscoring the importance of continued support for Ukraine in the face of ongoing tensions in the region.
To recall, since Russia initiated its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Sweden has offered military, humanitarian, and civil aid to support the country.
From February 2022 onwards, Sweden has contributed around SEK 57.8 billion (roughly EUR 5 billion) to various initiatives backing Ukraine.
Alongside the EU, Sweden has also implemented macroeconomic assistance and a number of sanctions packages targeting Russia.
