An assistant to Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev was detained in Monaco after attempting to enter the scene of an assassination attempt against him, French newspaper Nice-Matin reported.
The woman reportedly broke seals placed on the doors of the building. According to the publication, Yermolaiev had sent her to urgently retrieve several passports.
She was detained for several hours and later released without charges after police found no evidence of malicious intent.
The explosion occurred on June 29 at around 9 p.m. local time on Rue Reveran-Per-Louis-Froll, near the border with France. An explosive device detonated at the entrance to the residential building where Yermolaiev was staying.
Yermolaiev was seriously injured in the blast, while the woman accompanying him lost both legs. His 13-year-old son was also injured.
The woman suspected of involvement in the bombing, 39-year-old Anastasia Berezovska, was later found dead in Ukraine’s Kyiv region.
An officer of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence later confessed to killing the woman.
