Warsaw extends restrictions along Belarus border

31 August 2026 18:41

Poland has extended the operation of a buffer zone along its border with Belarus for another 90 days, maintaining restrictions in the sensitive border area amid ongoing security concerns.

The extension will keep a temporary ban on entering parts of the border zone in place until November 29, 2026, European Pravda reports.

The geographical scope of the restricted area will remain unchanged under an order issued by Poland’s Interior Ministry.

The restrictions cover a 78.29-kilometre section of the border under the responsibility of Border Guard units in Michałowo, Narewka, Białowieża, Dubicze Cerkiewne and Czeremcha.

The buffer zone generally excludes residential areas and tourist routes. Polish authorities have sought to ensure that the restrictions impose as little disruption as possible on local residents, visitors and businesses operating in the region.
