Media: Ukraine’s agricultural exports plunge by nearly half in August

31 August 2026 16:07

Ukraine’s agricultural exports plunged by nearly half in August, according to Spike Brokers’ weekly market review.

The country exported 47.5% less agricultural produce from August 1 to 27 than during the same period in July. The sharpest decline was recorded in grain exports, with wheat, corn and barley shipments falling 69.5%. Exports to Türkiye saw the steepest drop, plunging 79%.

Rail shipments of agricultural products to ports also fell sharply: between August 1 and 26, they declined 81.8%. In particular, the volume of grain transported by rail to the ports of Odesa alone was 95.5% lower than in July.

Meanwhile, global grain prices have been rising amid the decline in Ukrainian supplies. Wheat prices on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange climbed 12.1% over the week, reaching their highest level in more than three years.
