Ukrainian intel officer confesses in killing of Monaco bombing suspect PHOTO / UPDATED

07 July 2026 15:04

An officer of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) has confessed to the killing of a woman suspected of involvement in an attempted assassination of businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, Ukraine’s National Police said.

According to investigators, the killing was carried out with the participation of a former law enforcement officer. The victim, identified as Berezovska A., had previously been considered a suspect in a reported attempt on Yermolaiev’s family in Monaco.

“The investigation established that after returning to Ukraine, she communicated with her family and two men. The first is a former law enforcement officer; the second is a serving officer of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine,” police said in a statement.

Investigators said both men had made repeated transfers to Berezovska’s cryptocurrency and bank accounts and were therefore examined as individuals potentially involved in the attempted killing in Monaco.

During a search of the former officer’s residence, authorities reported discovering “a basement room resembling a torture chamber.”

Police said the body of Berezovska was located following testimony from one of the alleged accomplices. “Based on the testimony of one of the accomplices, an investigative experiment was conducted, during which the body of Berezovska A. with gunshot wounds to the head and spent cartridge cases were found,” the statement said.

“Law enforcement agencies are establishing the organisers and other persons involved in the attempted murder of the family in Monaco,” the statement added.

A woman suspected of involvement in the bombing of Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco has been found dead, according to the SHOT Telegram channel.

The body of the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Anastasia Berezovska, was discovered buried in the Kyiv region.

Ukrainian media reported that Berezovska had a gunshot wound. According to sources, two suspects in her killing had been detained — a serving officer of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence and a former Ukrainian law enforcement official.

Earlier, Berezovska had been placed on an international wanted list by Interpol.

The explosion occurred on June 29 near a residential building in Monaco, injuring Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, his wife, and their 13-year-old son.
