Finland approves 27th military aid shipment to Ukraine Worth €200 million
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has approved another military aid shipment to Ukraine, marking Finland’s 27th delivery since Russia’s invasion nearly three years ago.
The latest package, valued at nearly 200 million euros, increases the total worth of Finland’s defence equipment assistance to Ukraine to 2.5 billion euros, Caliber.Az reports, citing Finnish media.
Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen emphasized the importance of providing the necessary support to help Ukraine defend itself effectively. "We are offering exactly the type of support Ukraine needs in critical frontline situations. The pressure must not let up; on the contrary, it is essential to strengthen our support at this very moment. I’ve discussed this with my Nordic colleagues this week, and we share the same perspective," he said in a press release.
In a meeting with journalists on January 30, Stubb suggested that there could be movement toward a ceasefire in Ukraine within the next few months. "We’re looking at a 3-6 month window, with the primary goal being a ceasefire, followed by peace talks as a secondary objective," he stated.
To protect the operational security of the shipment, the ministry has withheld details on the specific contents, delivery methods, and timing of the aid.
In 2024, Finland ranked among the top 10 military aid donors to Ukraine, surpassing countries like Germany, Sweden, and the United States in terms of assistance relative to GDP.
Since the start of the conflict, Finland has been actively supporting Ukraine across humanitarian, financial, and military-technical sectors. In the spring of last year, Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Stubb signed a bilateral security agreement, reinforcing Finland’s long-term commitment and enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
In December, Finland allocated its 26th military aid package to Ukraine, which included winter gear for Ukrainian troops, valued at 25 million euros.
