Egypt’s president warns Israel’s actions jeopardize Middle East peace

15 September 2025 20:54

At the Arab-Islamic summit held in Doha, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi delivered a stern warning to Israel, stating that its ongoing actions are severely undermining prospects for peace in the Middle East.

Speaking to leaders from across the region, Sisi emphasized that Israel’s conduct not only threatens the establishment of new peace agreements but also risks dismantling existing ones, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

“What is happening right now hinders the future of peace, threatens your security and the security of the peoples in the region and adds obstacles to chances for any new peace agreements and even aborts existing ones,” Sisi declared.

The Egyptian leader underscored the grave consequences of continued hostilities, cautioning that the region could regress into prolonged conflict.

“It also undermines existing peace agreements with countries in the region. The consequences will be dire, with the region returning to an atmosphere of conflict and the loss of historic peace-building efforts and gains achieved through them. This is a price we will all pay, without exception,” he said.

The summit, convened in Doha, serves as a demonstration of solidarity with Qatar following a recent Israeli strike targeting leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, who are based in the Gulf state. The attack on September 9, which Hamas reported killed five members but spared its top leadership, has intensified tensions across the Gulf, particularly straining relations between the United Arab Emirates and Israel — countries that normalized diplomatic ties in 2020.

Ahead of the summit, foreign ministers drafted a resolution warning that such Israeli actions jeopardize “everything that has been achieved on the path of normalizing ties with Israel including current agreements and future ones.”
