France commits €8.6 billion in military, strategic aid to Ukraine

18 September 2025 21:04

France has committed a substantial €8.6 billion in support to Ukraine from February 24, 2022, through December 31, 2024, the French Ministry of Armed Forces announced.

The report, which will be formally submitted to the French parliament, provides an in-depth overview of the multifaceted assistance France has extended to Kyiv amidst the ongoing war, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.

Military assistance forms the core of this aid package, accounting for €5.9 billion. These funds have been directed toward the transfer, delivery, and maintenance of sophisticated weaponry, alongside comprehensive training programs for Ukrainian armed forces. This significant investment highlights France’s strategic resolve to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the face of escalating hostilities.

In addition to direct military support, France has allocated €400 million to a bilateral fund designed to bolster Ukraine’s resilience. Furthermore, the country plays a pivotal role in the European Peace Facility (EPF)—a multilateral initiative aimed at streamlining arms procurement for Ukraine—where France’s 18% contribution amounts to €2.3 billion.

Among the advanced military hardware supplied are the renowned Caesar self-propelled artillery systems, Mirage 2000 fighter jets, Crotale surface-to-air missile systems, and SCALP cruise missiles—demonstrating France’s provision of cutting-edge technology to reinforce Ukraine’s defense infrastructure.
