Two Israeli soldiers were killed in a terror attack at the Allenby Crossing on the border with Jordan, defence sources stated.
The assailant, reportedly the driver of a humanitarian aid truck from Jordan intended for delivery to Gaza, first opened fire before launching a knife attack, Caliber.Az reports, citing Israeli media.
Emergency service Magen David Adom confirmed the victims were men approximately 60 and 20 years of age. At least one suspected terrorist was killed during the incident. Defence sources indicated there may have been an accomplice involved.
Following the attack, large-scale search operations were launched at the scene, involving Duvdevan reservists, YATAM special forces, and troops from Battalion 47.
A security source reported that the assailant was driving a humanitarian aid truck originating from Jordan and en route to Gaza. The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and carried out the deadly assault.
This latest incident echoes a similar terror attack at the Allenby Crossing last September, in which three individuals were killed. In that case, the assailant, later identified as 39-year-old Jordanian truck driver Maher Al Jazi, approached the area from the Jordanian side in a truck, exited the vehicle, and opened fire on Israeli security forces before being shot and killed by responding personnel.
