Hezbollah preparing for protracted battle with Israel

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem has expressed deep condolences in a televised address to the Lebanese people and the wider Islamic and Arab communities following the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. 

Sheikh Qassem emphasised the unwavering dedication of the Resistance to its mission, which includes opposing the Israeli occupation and supporting Gaza, while also defending Lebanon and its citizens, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

He reiterated that despite ongoing Israeli attacks and assassinations, the Resistance remains resolute in its commitment to continue the fight. In his speech, Hezbollah's Deputy Secretary-General announced that a new Secretary-General would be appointed as soon as possible, following established protocols, and stressed that "the choices are clear and straightforward because we are united in purpose." He explained that "within [Hezbollah's] structure, there are deputies for leaders and reserve alternatives ready to take on positions."

Sheikh Qassem stressed that despite the loss of many leaders, attacks on civilians, and significant sacrifices, "we will not waver from our positions; the Resistance will continue to support Gaza and Palestine while defending Lebanon and its people."

In this context, Sheikh Qassem stated, "We understand that the battle will be long, we are prepared for any scenario, and we will emerge victorious from this struggle." He affirmed that Hezbollah "is ready to confront any situation if Israel chooses to invade, and we are prepared to engage the enemy if it enters by land." 

Sheikh Qassem further asserted, "We are well-prepared and confident that the Israeli enemy will not accomplish its goals, and we will prevail," adding that "the actions of the party are simply the minimum necessary as part of our strategy to sustain the fight, aligned with assessments and plans based on the current needs on the ground."
