Hungary to boost defence spending to 2% of GDP
28 December 2022 20:32
The Hungarian government expects to increase defence spending to 2 per cent of GDP in 2023.
According to TASS, this was stated by Hungarian Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.
According to him, in this way, Budapest will reach the mark to which all member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance have agreed to aspire a year earlier.
"Hungary's military spending in the next year's budget will reach 2 per cent of GDP, in line with NATO's expectations," Szalay-Bobrovniczky said.
The minister indicated that Budapest would be able to increase the corresponding costs from the national defence fund, which is replenished in part with the help of taxes paid by the largest firms.
