If Armenia thinks about revenge, it will cease to exist MP from ruling party says

11 December 2023 14:48

An MP from the ruling party, chair of the Standing Committee on Financial - Credit, Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan has said that If Armenia thinks about revenge, it will cease to exist.

"I think that the peace agreement is about the absence of desire for revenge. If there should be some kind of revenge, how can there be a peace agreement, apart from that, if we want Armenia to strengthen for a long time and to have statehood here for a long time, this path goes directly through dialogue with the neighbors," Papoyan said as he responded to remarks from the Armenian journalists, regarding the fact that the Azerbaijani president demanded clear formulations and guarantees that there would be no revenge, Caliber.Az reports.

"We need a peace agreement as much as they do. In my opinion, this agreement is about lasting peace here. Once the agreement is signed, I see an environment in the South Caucasus that will bring integration at all levels and not only peace, but also the development of economic relations, prosperity and a significant increase in living standards.

If Armenia declares that it is preparing for revenge, this is a direct way to end its existence. There will be external forces that will stir up such sentiments and such language in Armenia, because these forces do not need Armenia to exist. The policy of 'pulling the chestnuts out of the fire with someone else's hands' is very logical for these forces, and we should not become a tool in the hands of third countries," the MP noted.
