Ukrainian Ground Forces chief resigns following tragic training site attack
Commander of Ukraine’s Ground Forces Mykhailo Drapatyi has announced his resignation following a devastating missile strike that killed 12 soldiers and wounded more than 60 at a military training site.
“I have decided to submit my resignation from the post of Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. This is a conscious decision, driven by my personal sense of responsibility for the tragedy,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Drapatyi’s message on Telegram.
The strike occurred on June 1, targeting a Ukrainian Armed Forces training unit. There were no large gatherings or formal assemblies of personnel at the time of the missile strike. The majority of soldiers had taken shelter following the air raid alert.
All wounded servicemembers are currently receiving necessary medical care. A formal internal investigation has been launched to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the incident.
