Iran asserts right to retaliate against Israel Over Haniyeh assassination
Iran has firmly stated its right to retaliate against Israel for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said.
Addressing reporters, Kanaani emphasized that Iran has an “unquestionable right” to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
He asserted that the country is entitled to take decisive and deterrent actions in response to the attack, which occurred on July 31 in Tehran while Haniyeh was attending a presidential inauguration.
Kanaani criticized international organizations for their inaction regarding what he described as crimes committed by Israel and clarified that Iran's goal is not to escalate tensions but to ensure stability through appropriate retaliation.
He also announced that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will meet in Jeddah to discuss the assassination.
The Israeli regime assassinated the head of the political bureau of Hamas in Tehran in the early hours of July 31.
Haniyeh, who was in Tehran to attend the new Iranian president’s swearing-in ceremony, was martyred in a special residence after being hit by an aerial projectile.
