Israel launches retaliatory airstrikes on Houthi strongholds in Yemen’s Sana’a
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched targeted airstrikes against multiple Houthi positions in the Yemeni capital Sana’a and the northern province of Al Jawf, in response to a series of drone and missile attacks launched from Yemen towards Israel, including recent strikes on Eilat and central regions of the country.
According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) struck key Houthi military infrastructure, including weapons and ammunition depots, fuel storage facilities, and command centers, Caliber.Az reports.
"A short while ago, the IAF struck military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime in the areas of Sanaa and Al Jawf in Yemen,” the IDF said in an official statement.
Among the targets hit were military camps used by the Houthis for operational planning and coordination of attacks against Israel. These camps also housed intelligence and command posts, the IDF noted.
The airstrikes also hit the Houthis' Military Public Relations Headquarters, which the IDF said plays a central role in the group’s psychological warfare efforts. The unit is responsible for producing and disseminating propaganda, including public addresses by Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi and spokesperson Yahya Saree. During the current conflict, this department has actively shaped the group’s media narrative and information campaigns.
The Israeli military emphasized that the Houthis are operating under the direction and financial backing of Iran, with the aim of destabilizing Israel and its allies in the region. The group has increasingly used Yemen as a launchpad for missile and drone assaults, while also exploiting maritime routes to threaten international shipping and commercial trade.
“These strikes are a direct response to the continued aggression from the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist regime,” the IDF stated. “We will continue to act against any threat targeting the State of Israel and its citizens.”
