Israel prepares delegation to advance Trump’s Gaza peace plan
Israel is preparing to dispatch a delegation to hold talks aimed at implementing US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
The development follows reports that Israeli forces have halted offensive operations in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that Israel is ready for the “immediate implementation of the first stage of Trump’s plan for the immediate release of all the hostages," Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.
Israeli security officials are reoportedly compiling a list of Palestinian prisoners who could be released in exchange for Israeli hostages as part of the proposed deal.
The move comes after Hamas submitted a response to Trump’s plan, expressing conditional acceptance of certain proposals while signaling that additional negotiations are needed to finalizse terms. Trump, in turn, praised Hamas for its response and called on Israel to immediately cease strikes in Gaza, describing the group as “ready for a lasting peace.”
For context, Trump unveiled a 20-point plan earlier this week during a visit by Netanyahu to the White House.
Key elements of the plan include an immediate cessation of military operations, the release of Israeli and Palestinian hostages, the disarmament of Hamas, and the establishment of a technocratic Palestinian committee to oversee Gaza under international supervision. While the plan mentions the possibility of a future Palestinian state, Netanyahu has reiterated his opposition.
