Uzbekistan, US discuss expanding interparliamentary cooperation
Chairwoman of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Norbaeva, met with a delegation from the US House of Representatives comprising Jason Smith, Greg Murphy, Ronny Jackson and Edward Case, UzDaily reported.
The sides discussed the development of interparliamentary ties, as well as trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.
They also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between regions of the two countries.
During the meeting, it was noted that bilateral relations have been steadily developing and have reached the level of a strategic partnership, driven by the political will of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and US President Donald Trump.
Particular attention was paid to parliamentary diplomacy, including cooperation between the Oliy Majlis and the US Congress, as well as the activities of the Uzbekistan Caucus.
The participants also discussed joint projects in industry and agriculture, investment initiatives, and efforts to expand ties between Uzbek regions and US states.
Labour relations and gender equality were also among the issues addressed during the meeting.
