Israeli FM initiates legal action against French leader Over exhibition ban
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz declared on October 20 that he has directed his ministry to commence legal proceedings against French President Emmanuel Macron after Paris prohibited Israeli companies from participating in an upcoming military naval trade show.
This restriction on Israeli firms is the latest instance stemming from the Macron government's concerns regarding Israel's actions in the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Euronaval, the organiser of the event taking place from November 4-7 in Paris, noted in a statement last week that the French government had informed them that Israeli delegations would not be permitted to set up exhibits or display equipment, although they could still attend the trade show.
This decision affects seven companies.
"I have instructed the Foreign Ministry to take legal and diplomatic action against French President ... decision to prevent Israeli companies from showcasing their products at the @SalonEuronaval exhibition in Paris next month. The boycott of Israeli companies for the second time, or the imposition of unacceptable conditions, are undemocratic measures that are not acceptable between friendly nations. I urge President Macron to cancel them entirely," Katz stated on X.
