Italian swimmer criticizes poor living conditions in Paris Olympic village
Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon has expressed dissatisfaction with the living conditions in the 2024 Olympic Village in Paris.
Ceccon criticized both the accommodations and the competition pool, citing several issues, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“In the Village there is no air conditioning, it’s hot, the food is bad. Many athletes move because of this … it is not an alibi it is the pure chronicle of what perhaps not everyone knows.
Yes it’s hot for me too, in the Village there is no air conditioning, we don’t eat well and there are problems with the food. Many athletes move for these reasons," Ceccon said.
He also complained about the pool, describing the water as "slow" and expressing frustration with the overall environment.
Despite acknowledging that the conditions are the same for all competitors, Ceccon highlighted the challenges faced, including poor sleep quality due to noise and heat. He noted that the organization at the Tokyo Olympics was superior, reflecting on how difficult it is to match the efficiency of the Japanese.
Ceccon, who won a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke and a bronze in the freestyle relay at Paris, had previously earned silver and bronze medals at the Tokyo Games.
