Rising stars of Western Azerbaijan: Zangazur football club takes field

A new football club representing Western Azerbaijan has been officially established, marking a fresh addition to the Azerbaijani football landscape.

The Zangazur team is set to compete in the Regional League commencing this season, Caliber.Az reports, citing sport1.az.

Founded and presided over by Shahin Mammadov, Zangazur will serve as a sporting emblem for Western Azerbaijan. The club will participate in matches across the capital city, Baku, as well as the northern regions of the country. Home fixtures will be hosted in Baku, positioning the team at the heart of Azerbaijan’s football scene.

With a budget exceeding 100,000 manats ($58.9.000), the club has set ambitious objectives. Its primary aim is to secure the Regional League championship and earn promotion to the Second League, underscoring its competitive aspirations.

Moreover, the club enjoys the backing of the Western Azerbaijan Community, which is expected to play a significant role in supporting the team’s development and success.
