Azerbaijani teams set for penultimate-round matches at World Chess Olympiad

Azerbaijan’s men’s and women’s national chess teams will play their penultimate-round matches at the 46th World Chess Olympiad in Samarkand on September 26.

The Azerbaijani men’s team will face Bulgaria in the 10th round, while the women’s team will take on Slovenia, Caliber.Az reports per local media. 

After nine rounds, Azerbaijan’s men are 12th in the standings with 13 points, while the women’s team is 14th with the same number of points.

The World Chess Olympiad is being held under the Swiss system and consists of 11 rounds. The tournament will conclude on September 27.
