Several cars collide in first Formula 2 Feature Race in Baku PHOTO / UPDATED

Several cars collided during the first Feature Race of the Formula 2 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, prompting officials to deploy a red flag and temporarily suspend the race, according to Report.

The first of two Feature Races at the Formula 2 Azerbaijan Grand Prix got underway in Baku on Friday.

According to Report, the drivers took to the track at 14:15 local time.

Two PREMA Racing drivers, Sebastián Montoya and Mari Boya, were ruled out of the first Feature Race.

Montoya encountered an incident while making his way to the starting grid and was unable to take part in the race. Boya’s car developed a problem and was left stranded on the track before being removed by the Safety Car.

Earlier in the day, Dino Beganovic of DAMS Lucas Oil won the Sprint Race.

The first Feature Race is currently underway, while the second is scheduled for Saturday, September 26.
