Hungary-Ukraine match ends in mass brawl after late red card VIDEO

Ukraine opened its 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Hungary in Budapest on Friday, although the match ended amid a mass confrontation between players.

The visitors took the lead in the 42nd minute when forward Danylo Sikan headed in a cross from Heorhiy Sudakov.

Hungary was unable to find an equaliser, and tensions boiled over in stoppage time. Ukraine midfielder Oleksandr Nazarenko was shown a second yellow card following a hard foul on a Hungarian player and was sent off.

Players from both sides then became involved in a heated confrontation, with members of the two teams pushing one another. Match officials intervened to separate the players and brought the game to a close.

The match was played at Budapest’s Puskás Arena and was part of Group 2 in League B. The result gave Ukraine a winning start to its Nations League campaign.
