Azerbaijani trailblazer's Everest journey captured in inspiring new film PHOTO
The film "Following the Dream" ("Arzunun ardınca"), which honours Elmira Aslanova, the first Azerbaijani woman to summit Mount Everest, was recently presented.
According to the Ministry of Youth and Sports press service, cited by local media, the event was held at the DOST Centre for Inclusive Development and Creativity.
The ceremony gathered prominent figures, including Labour and Social Protection Minister Anar Aliyev, Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov, Security Council Deputy Secretary Madat Guliyev, Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation President Mukhtar Babayev, Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Bahar Muradova, deputies, sports community representatives, veterans, and others.
Speakers highlighted the film’s role in motivating the younger generation, especially young female athletes, to pursue success and triumph.
At the event’s conclusion, congratulations were extended to director and screenwriter Arzu Urshan and the film’s heroine, Elmira Aslanova, for their achievement in bringing the story to life.
Elmira Aslanova made history in 2023 as the first Azerbaijani woman to reach Everest’s summit and proudly raise the Azerbaijani flag there.
