Kazakhstan included in list of global middle powers
Kazakhstan has been included in the list of the world’s middle powers for the first time, according to articles by the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), an authoritative research and analytical centre in Germany.
Traditionally, middle powers are recognized as states that play an important role in the global political and economic arena, Silk Way reports.
According to SWP experts, Kazakhstan stands out among the Central Asian countries due to its foreign policy, positioning it as a pivotal player in the region.
Notably, Kazakhstan is gradually developing economic relations with the West and China, particularly within the raw materials sector. The country’s early success in realizing its ambitions in international politics is underscored by its chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the UN Security Council, as well as its role as a mediator in the Syrian conflict.
Foreign analysts also note the country’s membership in several other influential Eurasian organizations.
Moreover, SWP has published an analysis of Kazakhstan’s successful activities and progress in areas such as sustainable development and energy. According to experts, the country confidently asserts its geographical and historical role as a bridge connecting East and West.
