Kyiv mobilises emergency teams to restore power and water after Russian strikes
Kyiv has activated all relevant services to restore electricity and water supply following overnight Russian attacks on the city’s critical infrastructure.
The response aims to eliminate the consequences of the shelling as quickly as possible.
Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration, Petro Panteleyev, spoke about the situation during a live broadcast on the TV channel "Kyiv", as per Ukrainian media.
“Tonight, there was a massive shelling of the objects of critical infrastructure of the city. Therefore, we have interruptions in the systems of energy and water supply. Divisions of DTEK (Ukraine's largest energy company), National Power Company Ukrenergo, KP Kyivteploenergo, and others promptly deployed the headquarters for recovery. In general, we use those practices that have been developed for such cases. Specialists will work around the clock—as long as necessary for full recovery. We hope that in the near future we will be able to stabilise the situation,” he stated.
Panteleyev added that in areas experiencing water supply problems, temporary canteens connected to generators have been set up, and water is being delivered to medical institutions. He explained, “The capital's water supply system is too complex and powerful to work on generators. However, in areas where there are problems with water supply, there will be bustet complexes connected to generators. It will be possible to draw water there until the situation with the centralised water supply is normalised. Also, water is brought to health care institutions, which are also equipped with generators.”
Currently, 2,939 infrastructure facilities are without power, and 4,474 houses are left without water.
Recovery teams are working continuously to restore full functionality.
