Landslide in China’s Gansu province kills five, leaves 12 missing VIDEO / UPDATED
A landslide struck a township in Tanchang County, Longnan City, in China’s northwestern Gansu Province early Tuesday, July 7, killing five people and leaving 12 others missing, Xinhua reports.
According to local authorities, the landslide occurred in Renzang village, Nanhe Township, at around 6:56 a.m. local time (2:56 a.m. Baku time). A total of 33 people were trapped under the debris.
Rescue teams said that as of 2:50 p.m. local time (10:50 a.m. Baku time), 21 people had been pulled from the rubble and mud. Five of them died despite receiving medical treatment.
Large-scale search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the remaining 12 missing people.

A landslide in China’s northwestern Gansu Province has buried 33 people under debris, while rescuers have managed to save 17 of them.
The incident occurred on the morning of July 7 in the city of Longnan, Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.
Rescue teams, medical personnel, and law enforcement officers are currently working at the scene.
Authorities have evacuated people affected by the disaster and arranged accommodation for them.
