MP: No expenses for Ukrainian presidential elections in new budget

Member of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Yaroslav Zheleznyak has said that Ukraine's draft budget for 2024 does not include expenses for holding presidential elections.

The Ukrainian MP published a screenshot of a fragment of a document, from which it follows that the budget of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission (CEC) for next year will be less than in previous years.

“There is no intrigue: expenses for next year’s elections are not envisaged,” Zheleznyak wrote in Telegram, Gazeta.Ru reports.

He noted that the CEC’s budget was four billion Ukrainian hryvnia ($108.3 million) in 2019 when the elections were held.
