NATO military exercises in Latvia get underway
Ramstein Legacy 2022 military exercises have started in Latvia.
According to RBC-Ukraine, they will last until June 6.
Exercises were organized by the command of the NATO Air Force.
Approximately 300 soldiers from the Air Defense units of the Air Force, the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces, the National Guard, as well as from the Air Defense Units of the Italian, Czech, and US Armed Forces will take part in the training in Latvia.
Troops will train in the territory and airspace of several countries: Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia.
"The exercise will be conducted in various European countries and has been designed based on complex and realistic situational conditions. The purpose of this year is to strengthen the interoperability and readiness of units, which, accordingly, will strengthen the defense and protection of the territories, forces, and population of allied countries against the threat or attack from missiles or air," RALY 22 press service said.
The exercises will involve NATO military aircraft, and close-range air defense systems, including RBS-70, STINGER and AVENGER.
