US sanctions Russian Defence Ministry entities

The United States has imposed sanctions on several Russian entities, including the Russian Ground Forces and two departments of the Defence Ministry, over alleged violations of US non-proliferation legislation related to Iran, North Korea and Syria.

The sanctions target the Russian Defence Ministry's Main Missile and Artillery Directorate, the Directorate for Advanced Inter-Service Research and Special Projects, the Russian Ground Forces, and the 1061st Logistics Support Centre, Caliber.Az reports, citing the US State Department in the Federal Register.

Restrictions were also imposed on Gideon Alpha and International Invest Company LLC, and also apply to the entities' subsidiaries and any successor organisations.

In addition, several individuals have been added to the sanctions list.

The sanctions prohibit cooperation with US government agencies for a period of two years.
