Norwegian finance minister flags global risks from Middle East conflict
Former NATO Secretary General and current Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg has cautioned that the ongoing war in the Middle East could have repercussions for Norway’s economy. He made the comments during a briefing.
Stoltenberg noted that the conflict is intensifying global economic uncertainty, with its impact on Norway largely dependent on the duration and scale of the war. “A slowdown in global growth will affect Norwegian exports,” he said, highlighting the interconnected nature of international trade and the potential ripple effects of regional instability.
Addressing domestic measures, Stoltenberg emphasized that the 2027 state budget is designed to ensure economic stability amid turbulent times and to support the country in addressing long-term challenges.
“The state budget for 2027 is intended to help maintain the stability of Norway’s economy during unsettled periods and contribute to resolving the long-term issues facing us,” he said.
