Party head: France abandoning Africa under humiliating conditions
Head of the French National Rally political party Marion Le Pen has criticised Paris' policy in Africa.
“France was leaving Niger ‘under humiliating conditions’,” she told France Inter radio.
“This was not a decision. In reality, President Macron had no choice. It's sad because it seems like we've been kicked out of Africa. However, there was no other choice. We are recalling our ambassador and withdrawing the military [from Niger] under humiliating conditions. All this is a big failure of French diplomacy,” Le Pen said.
She noted that President Macron expected that the power of the rebels in Niger would not be so stable.
“The president also hoped for military intervention from Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Proceeding from the current situation, he [Macron] announced about withdrawal,” the party head noted.
