Pakistan's defence minister affirms military preparedness amid escalating India tensions
Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has reiterated the country's military readiness in the face of escalating tensions with India, asserting that the armed forces are fully equipped to handle any aggression.
Speaking in the National Assembly today, Asif praised the courage and resilience of Pakistani forces engaged in ongoing clashes along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary, following India's recent military actions, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
"Our forces have valiantly responded to the enemy's aggression, successfully thwarting India's designs, which has severely demoralised their people, media, and political leadership," Asif said. He added that the morale of Pakistan's military, political leaders, and citizens remains high.
The Defence Minister highlighted the shooting down of five Indian fighter jets and drones, calling it a significant achievement that has bolstered national pride. "We stand united with our armed forces in this time of crisis," Asif stated.
On the diplomatic front, Asif confirmed that the government is maintaining close consultations with key international partners, particularly China and Gulf nations. "Friendly countries have expressed their unwavering support for Pakistan, and we are ensuring that Pakistan's stance is clearly represented at the United Nations," he said, stressing that no nation is siding with India in the current dispute.
In a session marked by sharp rhetoric, Chief of JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned India's alleged targeting of mosques and madrasas, which led to civilian casualties. He also commended the Pakistani military’s response to Indian provocations.
Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain affirmed that Pakistan's armed forces have historically thwarted India's hostile plans. He praised the country's military as "the best in the world," noting that the enemy is fully aware of Pakistan's capabilities.
Meanwhile, Misbah Uddin emphasised that while war is never a desired solution, Pakistan’s military, supported by the nation, is fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity if forced into conflict.
Haji Rasool Bux Chandio further added that Pakistan will not tolerate any attempts to undermine its security, asserting that "no one will be allowed to cast an evil eye on Pakistan."
