Pentagon plans to transfer NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine

US Under Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kahl has said that Ukraine will receive NASAMS short and medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems within a few months.

“There is no NASAMS in this package, there are AMRAAM rockets for NASAMS. NASAMS deliveries are being prepared. We think that they will arrive in the next few months,” Kahl said at a briefing, according to the website of Pentagon. 

The US announced plans to supply NASAMS to Ukraine in July as part of an $820 million aid package. The Pentagon was scheduled to send two air defence systems to Kyiv.

On August 8, the United States announced a $ 1 billion military aid package. It included rockets for NASAMS AMRAAM. These missiles are also used in fighter aviation.
