President Trump to visit flood-ravaged Texas as death toll rises
President Donald Trump announced on July 6 that he plans to visit Texas later this week in the aftermath of devastating flash floods that have claimed dozens of lives across the state.
“Probably on Friday,” Trump told reporters when asked about plans to travel to Texas. “We wanted to leave a little time,” he continued. “I would have done it today, but we’d just be in their way. Probably Friday,” Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
On July 4, central Texas was struck by catastrophic flash flooding after torrential pre-dawn rains caused the Guadalupe River to rise 26 feet within 45 minutes, overwhelming communities and a riverside summer camp. The disaster has resulted in at least 82 confirmed deaths, with dozens still missing—many of them children. Kerr County has been hardest hit, reporting 68 fatalities, including 28 children.
Search and rescue operations, involving over 400 personnel, continue as weather conditions hamper efforts. With more rain forecasted and federal support now mobilised, including an emergency declaration signed by President Donald Trump, the state remains in a race against time to locate the missing and aid survivors.
