Houthis launch hypersonic missile at Tel Aviv airport
The Houthis from the rebel Yemeni movement "Ansar Allah" have claimed responsibility for a strike on Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv using a hypersonic ballistic missile.
The statement was made by Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the armed forces formed by the rebels, Caliber.Az reports, citing Arab media.
“The missile forces carried out a military operation during which they struck Lod Airport (Ben Gurion)… using a hypersonic ballistic missile of the ‘Palestine-2’ type,” he said on the Ansar Allah-affiliated Al Masirah TV channel.
Saree claimed that the operation “successfully hit its target.” According to the Ansar Allah military spokesperson, airport operations were temporarily suspended as a result of the attack.
The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have intensified missile and drone attacks on Israel since November 2023, citing solidarity with Palestinians.
