Poland completes electronic barrier along Belarus border to enhance security
Poland has officially completed the construction of a comprehensive electronic barrier along its entire border with Belarus, the Interior Ministry announced on July 23. The new security infrastructure is designed to bolster border monitoring and prevent illegal crossings.
Speaking on TVN24, Polish Interior Minister Tomasz Semoniak confirmed that as of July 20, the electronic barrier system is fully operational. The installation includes advanced surveillance technology such as video cameras, thermal imaging devices, and motion sensors.
The barrier spans the full length of the Poland-Belarus border and features approximately 1,800 masts equipped with cameras, alongside 4,500 cameras providing 24-hour video and thermal monitoring. Additionally, specialised sensors have been deployed to detect a range of physical signatures, enhancing the system’s ability to identify movement or unauthorised activity.
