Polish minister: E5 meeting in Paris to focus on continued support for Ukraine, EU defence boost

12 March 2025 17:42

Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has said that the defence ministers of five countries, including France, Germany, the UK, Italy and Poland, will discuss assistance to Ukraine and their participation in the post-conflict stabilization process.

Kosiniak-Kamysz, speaking ahead of his departure to Paris for the meeting, emphasized the importance of long-term support for Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

“The conversation will be about assistance for Ukraine, which should be both now and after the establishment of a stable peace, about investments in Ukraine in the military industry, common Ukrainian-European enterprises. It is important to take advantage of their experience, including in the field of drones, on the battlefield,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

In addition, the defense ministers will discuss the armament of Europe, which has “awakened” and now wants to deal with its security.

on March 12, Sébastien Lecornu, the French Minister of the Armed Forces, will welcome defense ministers in the E5 format at the Val de Grâce in Paris. The meeting will provide a platform for ministers and representatives from the European Union and NATO to engage in two critical working sessions.

The first meeting will focus on supporting Ukraine, with an emphasis on continued military assistance and strategic cooperation, and the second on strengthening European defense, with discussions on enhancing regional defense capabilities and coordination.
