Race for the title narrows as World Cup 2026 semifinalists emerge

All four semifinalists of the 2026 FIFA World Cup have now been determined.

The final spot in the last four was secured by the Argentina national football team. The reigning world champions defeated Switzerland 3-1 after extra time.

The match ended 1-1 in regulation time before Argentina scored twice in extra time through goals from Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez.

Earlier, the England national football team advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway. Both of England’s goals were scored by Jude Bellingham.

The other semifinal will feature France national football team and Spain national football team.

2026 FIFA World Cup semifinal schedule:

July 14: France vs. Spain
July 15: England vs. Argentina

The World Cup final is scheduled to take place on July 19.
