Russian leader personally oversees situation in Kursk
During a briefing in Kursk, Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov has revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is personally monitoring the situation in Kursk Region.
Smirnov expressed gratitude to President Putin, noting that the president is closely overseeing the developments, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
On August 12, Smirnov reported that approximately 2,000 individuals are under enemy occupation, with no current information on their fate. He noted that Ukrainian Armed Forces control 28 settlements in the Kursk region, with their incursion reaching 12 kilometres into the area.
On the evening of August 9, a counter-terrorism operation regime was introduced in the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions. The Defence Ministry reported on August 8 that fighting is ongoing in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts of Kursk. Previously, Ukraine was warned of potential further territorial losses due to attacks near Kursk.
