Iran calls for another attack on Israel
Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Reza Naqdi, has called for another Operation Al-Aqsa Flood in response to an Israeli strike on Iranian territory on October 26.
Operation Al-Aqsa Flood is the attack by the Palestinian movement Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
"Many people ask us when Truthful Promise 3 will take place [the military response to the Israeli attack on October 26] and I say that I am not concerned about Truthful Promise 3. We, the Basij militia, want a new Al-Aqsa Flood," he said.
The Operation "Truthful Promise 1" refers to the strike on Israeli territory in April 2024 in response to the shelling of the Islamic Republic's consulate in Damascus. Similarly, "Truthful Promise 2" was the name given to the missile attack on Israeli military targets on October 1, carried out in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas' political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.
"The experience gained during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood shows that we should not adopt a defensive position, but rather take the offensive," he added.
The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated after armed supporters of the Palestinian radical group Hamas infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. The attack resulted in the killing of residents in border towns and the capture of over 240 hostages. In response, Israel launched a military operation in the enclave aimed at dismantling Hamas' military and political structure and freeing all the hostages.
The fighting in the Gaza Strip continues up till now. On November 2, member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee Esmail Kosari assured that Iran's Supreme National Security Council had made a decision on a military response to Israel's strike on October 26.
He stated that the response would be far more powerful than all previous ones and would be carried out with the involvement of the Resistance Axis forces.
The Resistance Axis includes Hezbollah, the Hamas movement and its allies in the Gaza Strip, radical Shiite groups from the "Islamic Resistance of Iraq," and the Yemeni Houthi rebel movement "Ansar Allah."
