Saudi Arabia expresses readiness to mediate between Russia, Ukraine
Saudi Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud has said that Saudi Arabia is ready to continue mediating between Russia and Ukraine to resolve the conflict.
"We reaffirm the kingdom's position of supporting everything that contributes to reducing the crisis in Ukraine, as well as the kingdom's willingness to continue mediation efforts between Russia and Ukraine," the Saudi crown prince said at the opening of the Arab League summit in Jeddah on May 19, TASS reports.
"We are happy to welcome the president [of Ukraine] Vladimir Zelenskyy as a guest of the summit and hope that our efforts will be successful," Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud said.
The Al Arabiya TV channel reported earlier on May 19 that Zelenskyy had arrived in Jeddah to attend the Arab summit meeting on a French plane. According to the channel, the flight departed from Poland.
