Yemeni Houthis launch new attack on US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman
Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement have launched a new attack on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman in the Red Sea, according to reports by Al Masirah TV.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, a spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, stated, “In response to the US aggression against our country, Yemeni naval, missile, and unmanned forces launched several cruise missiles and drone strikes against enemy warships in the Red Sea, led by the US aircraft carrier Harry Truman.”
Despite continued US bombardment, Saree confirmed that the armed forces remain committed to their military operations, adding, “We will continue to strike all US warships and sources of threat in our declared zone of operations.”
The Houthis, also known as Ansar Allah, have claimed multiple attacks against the Harry Truman since US President Donald Trump initiated a military campaign against the group on March 15. According to the Houthi-run Health Ministry, at least 61 civilians have been killed and 139 others injured in US airstrikes across Yemen since that date.
In response to the escalating situation, President Trump announced in March that he had ordered “decisive and powerful military action” against the Houthis and later threatened to “completely annihilate them.”
Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza in October 2023, the US-designated terrorist group has carried out over 100 missile and drone attacks on merchant vessels navigating the vital Red Sea corridor, citing solidarity with Palestinians.
The Houthis suspended their attacks when a ceasefire was declared between Israel and Hamas in January 2024, but resumed them after renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza last month.
