Hungary's Orbán claims Western Europe resents Trump, prefers war plan for Ukraine
The US continues its negotiations with Russia and is working on a peace plan for the Ukrainian conflict. However, Western Europe despises President Donald Trump and has crafted a long-term war strategy for Ukraine.
This viewpoint was expressed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán during an appearance on the morning program of Kossuth radio, per Caliber.Az.
"Western Europeans have developed a military plan. They are preparing for Europe to invest heavily in maintaining the Ukrainian army and to engage in a large-scale war in the long term," said the Prime Minister.
Orbán believes that the leaders of Western Europe "hate Trump and would not be disappointed if his efforts failed." Nonetheless, the US president "has already achieved remarkable successes," according to Orbán. "As a result of his actions, this war [in Ukraine] will not spread further in our direction, to Western Europe," the Prime Minister clarified. He further suggested that the best course of action for Europeans would be to "not interfere but to offer him support."
Previously, Orbán has reiterated that Hungary backs the US-Russia negotiations and hopes for their success, which he sees as essential not only for resolving the Ukrainian conflict but also for bolstering global security.
Earlier, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó commented that the talks between Russia and the United States have reduced the likelihood of the Ukrainian conflict escalating and have strengthened international security.
"The ongoing negotiations between Russia and the US have made the world a safer place, as the risk of war escalation has somewhat decreased," Szijjártó wrote on social media.
He also noted that the successful outcome of the negotiations between the Russian and US delegations serves Hungary's national security interests.
