Serbia prepared to purchase more weapons from Russia Deputy Prime Minister says
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin has said that his country is pleased with the quality of military equipment received from Russia and intends to continue its cooperation in this area.
Vulin noted that while Russian military equipment is excellent, purchasing it can be challenging due to anti-Russian sanctions and logistical difficulties, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
He explained that transporting goods from Russia to Serbia is complicated, especially since Serbia is surrounded by NATO countries.
Recalling his time as head of the Serbian Defence Ministry, Vulin mentioned negotiations with Moscow for acquiring the Russian Pantsir self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun system, as well as helicopters. He stated that Serbia is satisfied with these purchases and emphasized the nation's freedom to select the best options for its armed forces.
The Deputy PM underscored the importance of Serbia being strong enough to defend itself and prevent a repeat of the events of 1999. Therefore, he said, Serbia will choose and acquire any weapons it deems necessary, whether they come from Russia, China, or European countries.
