Some 13 US service members killed, 380 wounded in Iran operation Pentagon data
The United States Department of Defence has reported that 13 US service members have been killed and 380 others wounded since the beginning of US military operations against Iran, according to Pentagon casualty data.
The figures, updated as of April 9, indicate that among the wounded are 258 US Army personnel, 63 Navy sailors, 19 Marines, and 40 Air Force members. The data also records 44 women, 332 men, and four individuals of unspecified gender among those injured, Caliber.Az reports.
The Pentagon further states that seven of the fatalities occurred as a result of enemy fire, while six were classified as non-combat-related deaths. Among the deceased are three women and ten men, including seven Army personnel and six Air Force service members.
Earlier figures, as of April 3, had placed the number of wounded at 365 while the death toll remained unchanged at 13.
The U.S. military has more than 50,000 personnel in the region. According to U.S. Central Command, they have supported more than 13,000 strikes on targets and destroyed at least 155 Iranian vessels.
Iran’s health ministry has reported that more than 2,000 people have been killed and 20,000 wounded since the operation began.
