Tallin: Russian helicopter violates Estonian airspace
The main headquarters of the Estonian Defence Forces has announced that a Russian helicopter violated the country's airspace.
On the evening of June 18, a helicopter of the border guard Mi-8 of the Russian Federation violated the airspace of Estonia in the southeast of the country near Koidula. The incident lasted about two minutes, Interfax quotes the headquarters as saying in a statement.
The helicopter did not submit a flight plan and flew with the responder turned off. The Russian pilots had no two-way communication with the Estonian air traffic control service.
The Estonian Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador over the incident on June 21 and handed him a note [of protest].
This is the second violation of the republic's airspace this year.
Last year, Russian planes violated the Estonian border five times.
