Ukraine poised to lead Europe’s military supply chain, says US NATO envoy
Ukraine may emerge as a significant supplier of weapons and military equipment to European nations in the near future, driven by rising defence budgets across the continent.
This forecast was shared on August 17 by Matthew Whitaker, the Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO, during an interview with Fox News.
Whitaker stated that Ukraine would certainly become a major supplier of military equipment to Europe, pointing to Ukraine’s growing defence manufacturing capabilities and the continent’s urgent need to bolster its military readiness in response to regional threats.
Whitaker also emphasized the importance of preparing for Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery, highlighting key sectors that must be revitalized.
He said that at the moment it was necessary to think about what the Ukrainian economy would look like in the future.
According to the envoy, Kyiv should prioritize the restoration of its agricultural sector, seaports, and other critical infrastructure to ensure long-term stability and sustainability.
